Social Networking and Book Blogging

In my "real" job, I do a lot of work online in the world of virtual environments and social networks.
It has been a great joy to see the expansion of the crime fiction reading world into book blogs, RSS feeds and social networks.
The purpose of this blog is simply to point crime fiction readers to blogs they might enjoy, RSS feeds they can add to their readers, and to provide an easy stepping stone to new sites of interest..
So my invitation to you, if you have a crime fiction blog, is to check whether I have yours listed here, and if not, leave a comment so I can add it.

Can I also point out the search box at the top of the right hand column? It is a customised Google Search that searches a very large number of specialised crime fiction sites and blogs. Use it to track down authors and reviews.

Customised Google search

Many thanks to FyreFly who mentioned on her Sunday salon post that she had created a customised Google search called Book Bloggers.

I've played around with that now and created one that points first of all to the crime fiction blogs that I follow here on Crime Fiction Journeys. I've also put the search in the right hand column of MYSTERIES IN PARADISE.

You now get reasonably targetted results if you search for an author, a character, or a specific blog.
The only thing I don't like is that the search results come up in the same window - I would prefer they opened in a new window, but I'll work on that. Perhaps I can customise the code.

A Constantly Changing Landscape

The purpose of this particular blog page is to point readers to other crime fiction blogs you may enjoy. What I have done here is to embed RSS feeds from nearly 100 blogs which then display a snippet from the most recent posting on that blog.

I'm sure when you read them you will then decide to add them to your own bookmarks or RSS feeds. However, if it suits you better, just bookmark this blog, then come back and visit often, and chck out the changing landscape.

Generating traffic

I created this blog to put my blog roll all on one page and to get it off my main site because it was making that page so long. But at the moment it is not generating much traffic which is a pity because people are missing out on a great resource about crime fiction and murder mysteries, which is why I've chosen to follow these blogs.
I will have to rethink my strategy and perhaps posting a small promo every now and again will help.
